Push culture forward, embrace your grit; true beauty lies in individuality, and DC Shoes are here for it, using their platform to spotlight emerging female creatives. In their latest women's campaign, DC feature Los Angeles artist and songwriter Naomi Wild as the collection's face.
A recent collaborator of Machine Gun Kelly, Wild's songwriting and vocals are in demand, having seen her provide guest vocals for Odesza's Higher Ground, Louis the Child’s Here Comes A Feeling and featuring in MGK’s hit single and music video Glass House. Wild's haunting vocals and moody alternative dance tracks are bound for chart-topping greatness. Need evidence? Look out for her forthcoming album, ATTACHED TO NOTHING CONNECTED TO EVERYTHING.
Co-written by Wild, I Think I'm OKAY performed by MGK, Travis Barker and Yungblud was recently nominated for Best Rock Song at the Billboard Music Awards, a testament to her songwriting nous. Wild's debut solo album is set for release in 2021 after years in the making; there's no doubt it will be worth the wait.
Recognising that creativity happens in front of and, behind the camera, DC tapped creative powerhouse Brittany Byrd to collaborate on the campaign. Byrd, a Los Angeles native and Parsons School of Design Graduate, spent her formative years wearing DC Shoes around the Fairfax district before relocating to NYC for college.
Byrd has a rich understanding of DC's Californian heritage and shows mastery at mixing luxury fashion with iconic American brands, seeing the band tap Byrd to style their campaign and flipping the lens to spotlight Byrd’s creative process. Music, style, design and art are central to Byrd's inspiration. Byrd recently acquired her first commercial gallery and studio space (opening soon) and is set to make waves in 2021 and beyond.
The campaign was shot over multiple days in downtown Los Angeles and West Hollywood, visiting Byrd's creative studio and Wild's recording studio.
With that, DC invites you to meet Brittany Byrd and Naomi Wild:

ABOUT DC SHOES
When DC launched in 1994, it was a profound disruption to the skateboarding industry—a juxtaposition of skateboarding, music, art, and streetwear with oversized confidence, style, and performance. DC established itself with groundbreaking products and an unmatched roster of team-riders who lived and breathed the brand ethos. DC helped shape modern collaboration culture by pioneering partnerships with the likes of Supreme, FTP, Shepard Fairey, and Buscemi. In 2021, DC continues to push the envelope by collaborating with bold brands like X-Large, Doublet and Rokit.
