Australian Couture and Art Collide.
It was a full house at Carriageworks Gallery II on Wednesday evening where Australian prêt-à-couture design Mariam Seddiq presented her latest collection; 21/22" Cerulean.
Thirty-six models walked the expansive runway before almost four hundred guests in one of the largest shows of Afterpay Australian Fashion Week 2021.
With many new faces on the runway to showcase Mariam Seddiq's creations, bold beauty by Lancôme Australia's Directory of Artistry Lara Srokowski, and striking hair by DAVROE ambassador Madison Voloshin, the runway was a sartorial dream and colour explosion. Styling for the show was created in collaboration with Monica Morales and Acid Flwrs. Models were adorned with Mariam Seddiq jewellery and the footwear was courtesy of Lana Wilkinson.
I don't conform to traditional beauty standards, I have my vision, and I won't compromise. Diversity has always been important to me, coming from an Afghan background. I always try to find new faces to walk my shows, even if they don't have runway experience.

COLLECTION STATEMENT
Collection Cerulean is a kaleidoscopic collection of sculptural prêt-à-couture that is synonymous with MARIAM SEDDIQ.
After a year like no other, Collection Cerulean marks the emergence from a global dystopian mood, a literal creative explosion directly inspired by the vibrant Australian landscape and our inherent optimism.
Mariam took colours from her fine art paintings of 2020 and introduced them into CollectionCerulean, which is an evolution from her traditionally monochromatic designs.
Further honouring her love of art and sculptural forms, Mariam invited ACID.FLWRS, a joint project of Fashion Stylist Claire Mueller and graffiti artist RJ Williams, to collaborate on the Mariam Seddiq fashion week runway where handpainted flowers and explosively coloured garments are joyous and bold.
Handmade in Sydney with minimal fabric waste, MARIAM SEDDIQ Collection Cerulean is pure Australian prêt-à-couture with a side of Afghan maximalism.
